Mark 15:29-32

In Mark 15:29-32 the irony of the crucifixion of Jesus takes hold as Jesus is accused and convicted of blasphemy, yet He is innocent of these charges. But the people, as stated in Mark 15:29 (NKJV) “blasphemed” Jesus. What they are crucifying Jesus for, they themselves are committing. Even the chief priests and the scribes joined in on the mockery directed at Jesus, while continuing to refer to Him as the “Christ, the King of Israel” (Mark 15:32).

This is an example of the blindness of men in seeing and believing Jesus, the Savior of the world.

How easy it is to jump on the bandwagon of the multitude. But Jesus called us out of the world (John 15:19) to be a unique people as His children. The Apostle Paul teaches us in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. And in Colossians 1:27-29 the Bible teaches us, “To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.”

Dear LORD,

Jesus teaches us in John 13:34-35, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples if you have love for one another.” Please help us to realize and understand the significance of the crucifixion of Jesus – that we would put our faith in Him and be saved. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
