Mark 15:25-28

In Mark 15:25-28 is the confirmation of Jesus’ crucifixion, and as was the charge against Him posted above Him on the cross above His head, “THE KING OF THE JEWS” (Mark 15:26, NKJV). We also learn in Mark 15:27 that two robbers were crucified with Him; one on His right and one on His left. Mark 15:28 declares, “28So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And He was numbered with the transgressors” (Isaiah 53:12).

This is the example of Almighty God lowering Himself to be included with the sinners in death so that He, in His sinlessness, could set us free from sin.

The mockery of the multitude in placing the sign on the cross above Jesus to read, “THE KING OF HE JEWS” is an example of the foolishness of men as they had no idea what they were saying was reality. The Bible teaches us in 1 Corinthians 1:20c-21, “Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.” It was/is the foolishness of men that, in his self-righteousness, misses the point at hand. God uses such situations to show us just how unknowledgeable we really are. But He does give us understanding, wisdom, knowledge, and insight…if we will put our faith in Him.

Dear LORD,

Please help us to see through the lessons we learn in the Bible to believe; to believe in Jesus our Savior who died for our sins to set us free from them so we may be reunited with You as You desire us to be – in Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
