Mark 14:51-52

Mark 14:51-52 (NKJV) states, “51Now a certain young man followed Him, having a linen cloth thrown around his naked body. And the young men laid hold of him, 52and he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked.” Many scholars believe that the “young man” in this passage is Mark himself as he was believed to possibly be the scribe of Peter and would have been with the disciples in the garden. This is the only recording of this event in the Bible, and in the embarrassment of it, could have been kept private as well.

This is an example that the followers of Jesus were attempted to be arrested as well but were able to escape as Jesus is the only One to pay for our sins.

We all have private things in our lives that we need to give to Jesus for our healing. We all have some tragic event that has changed our lives. It is the gift of God through His One and only Son Jesus that sets us free. Jesus declares in John 8:31, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” He continues in John 8:36, “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” Put your trust in Jesus today and be set free from the bondage of sin and be forgiven in Christ.

Dear LORD,

Please give us the confidence in our relationship with Jesus to let go of the private things in our lives that hold us back from growing into the person/people that You would have us to be. Please help us to put our complete naked trust in Jesus to set us free – free indeed, in Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
