Mark 1:14-15

We learn in Matthew 14:1-12 the details of why John the Baptist had been put in prison, and why this led to his death.  In Mark 1:14 we learn that the ministry of Jesus did not begin until the ministry of John the Baptist had ended.  In Mark 1:15 we learn the message that Jesus preached, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand.  Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

This is the beginning of the physical ministry of Jesus.

It is important to note that this beginning of the ministry of Jesus is the beginning of the physical ministry of Jesus as His spiritual ministry has always been and will always be.  In John 1:1-4 (NKJV) the Bible teaches us, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”  And in John 1:14 we learn, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”  This time of physical ministry is the time in which Jesus came to His physical creation to be the example for humanity to follow as to how we should strive to live our lives; and He came to the physical world to save us from our sins in which we have been proven incapable of redeeming.  Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).

Dear LORD,

We need to know that You have always existed as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  As You came to this physical world to save us from sin, You remained in heaven as the Father.  As You came to this physical world, You came in the form of a human to be what no other human was capable of being – a Savior – You, in physical form.  Thank You for being the One and only true God who can do all things within Your holy character to save us from sin and redeem us back to a right state with You for all who will believe – in Christ.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
