Luke 9:61-62
Once again, as in Luke 9:59-60, Jesus is teaching that in following Him there should be no doubt as to your decision to do so. The Bible teaches us in James 1:6-8, a man that doubts is unstable and does not know where he is going. Following Jesus is a wholehearted decision that requires our full attention, not looking back.
This is a promise that following Jesus is a commitment that requires our full attention.
This is a promise that there is no doubt in the sincerity of following Jesus.
I once heard a story of how doubt is the most important tool used by Satan. If he can get us to doubt our faith in Jesus, then he can use all the other tools in his arsenal against us. Doubt is the beginning of failure. Jesus says that we are to put our full trust in Him and he will help us overcome the trials and temptations that Satan will bring our way (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Dear Lord,
Please give us strength and confidence in our Savior Jesus, that we may stand in the face of trials and temptation to overcome in the name of Jesus, our Savior who has defeated Satan once for all. Please help us Lord to open the doors to our hearts fully and receive Your Holy Spirit as our guide in our relationship with You through our belief in Jesus. Let there be no doubt in our hearts that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior! In Jesus name I pray, amen.
