Luke 15:1-7

Jesus states in Matthew 18:11 that He came to save the lost. Jesus teaches us in John 3:17 that He came to save the world from sin. It is no wonder that sinners draw near to Him as it is stated in Luke 15:1.

The Pharisees and scribes, being righteous in their own eyes, were closed to repentance and believed in their own way of showing how much better they were than others…in their own eyes.  But looking through the eyes of Jesus, He sees the sins of everyone and the need for repentance.

Jesus teaches the Pharisees and scribes a parable about a lost sheep and how one would leave the flock in the wilderness to go and find the one that is lost (Luke 15:4-6). Upon finding the one lost sheep, he would call his friends and neighbors to rejoice with him that the one that was lost has been found (Luke 15:6). Jesus says that this is how it is in heaven when one who is lost in sin repents and receives salvation.  All of heaven rejoices!

This is a promise that Jesus came into the wilderness to find the lost sheep (you and me).

This is a promise and example of the joy that is found and celebrated in heaven when we are saved by Jesus.

I must confess…the existence of this email ministry rides on the coat tails of an initial thought that Jesus put into my heart; If just one person is led to salvation in Jesus through this ministry, it is all worth every ounce of planning that goes into it. I pray that God will pour His blessings out on each one of you for being a part of sharing His Word.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for being an almighty God who, in Your sovereignty, cares so much for each one of us that You would send Your only begotten Son to save us from sin, and in doing so would cause all of heaven to rejoice. Thank You so much! In Jesus name I pray, amen.
