Luke 12:6-7
Immediately following His teaching to fear/respect the Almighty God of heaven who has the power to cast one into eternal hell, Jesus gives reassurance for those who believe [those who He calls friends (Luke 12:4)]. Jesus uses one of the smallest and most common birds as an example of God’s care for His children. We find in Genesis 1:27-28 that God has created man to have dominion over all the creatures of the earth. If God takes care of the least of the birds, then He certainly will take care of those who fear/respect and love Him.
This is a promise that God will take care of those who fear Him in respect for Him.
The Almighty God of heaven knows more about each of us than we will ever know about ourselves, such as the number of hairs on our heads (Luke 12:7). Jesus says to His friends (Luke 12:4) that there is no need to fear/to be afraid because a friend of Jesus is of much more value than the sparrows that He used as an example in this passage.
God is love (1 John 4:8) and true love knows no fear, but perfect love cast out fear (1John 4:18-19). God is perfect love, and He can cast out the fear in your life too. God has made this a very simple task for us: “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened,” as Jesus states in Matthew 7:7-8, NKJV.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for the perfect love that You are and that You have for each of those who put their trust in You through believing in Your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus. Thank you for the confidence in knowing that You will take care of us through thick and thin as we claim friendship in Jesus by believing in Him. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
