Luke 12:11-12

Jesus teaches His disciples that they will be tried and tested before the local authorities for their belief in Him. Jesus teaches them to not worry about what to say in these instances because as His Holy Spirit dwells within them, He will be their guide in what to say at these times.

This is a promise of receiving guidance from God’s Holy Spirit for those who believe in Him.

The Apostle Paul teaches us in Galatians 5:16-26 that the Spirit and the flesh are in contrast with one another. He teaches us that the flesh works against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh. The works of the flesh, Paul says, will not inherit the kingdom of God, but those who belong to Christ have crucified the sinful nature of the flesh and now walk in the Spirit. The Spirit of God that dwells within those who belong to Christ will be their guide to produce the fruit of the Spirit in which has no limit, and is in contrast to the condemnation that is produced by those who live by the sinful nature of the flesh. God’s Holy Spirit will guide us not only in our actions but also in our words.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit to dwell within those who believe and accept the great gift of salvation You offer us in Your Son, our Savior, Jesus. Please give us the courage and strength to submit our will to Your will for us as we seek Your help to overcome the sinful nature of the flesh and live in the Spirit which will produce in our lives the fruit of the Spirit in bringing glory to You LORD. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
