Luke 11:27-28
In this passage of Luke 11:27-28 is a two-fold lesson. (1) The words of this woman are the fulfillment of the song of Jesus’ mother, Mary, in her song that all generations will call her blessed (Luke 1:48). And (2) in the words of Jesus, that a greater blessing is in store for those who apply the lessons of God’s word to their lives.
This is the fulfillment of the blessing of Mary, Jesus’ mother.
This is a promise of Jesus that all will be blessed that hear God’s word and keep it.
It is one thing to hear God’s word whether it comes from a sermon that our preachers give on Sunday, during our personal Bible study time, or in some other way. But what Jesus truly seeks for our lives as children of God is to apply His word into our lives each day. Jesus says that these are those to whom blessings are truly given.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for the joy and excitement that Mary has shown in being the mother of our Savior Jesus. Please help us to hear Your word and to be a part of fulfilling the Scriptures as we apply the lessons in our lives that You teach us through Your word. Help us to relay the same joy and excitement in our lives that Mary, the mother of our Savior Jesus, has shown. We ask that Your blessings would flow to all those who put their trust in You through salvation in Your Son Jesus. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
