Luke 11:24-26
In Luke 11:14-23 Jesus is teaching and defending His position with the Almighty God of heaven in His power over Satan and his demons. In Luke 11:24-26 Jesus continues with the importance of continuing a daily relationship with Him in that man has no power over Satan and his demons, but that it is Him who has evicted Satan from within a man. Once Jesus has evicted Satan from a man’s heart, Satan will not give up; he will send seven demons to attack that person in his efforts to regain lost ground. If that man is not following God’s will for his life each day and submitting his life to salvation in and through Jesus, the attack of Satan will devour that man.
This is an example that man cannot overcome Satan by himself.
This is an example of the importance of following Jesus each day to overcome Satan.
This is an example of the importance of submitting our lives to Jesus each day in putting on the new man in Christ to save us from that which we are powerless.
When Jesus evicts Satan from our hearts through salvation in Him, Satan is not happy; he has lost control of a person, and he wants to regain it. He will re-attack with seven times the force that he had controlled us with before we accepted the forgiveness of Christ Jesus. The good news is that Jesus is more powerful than Satan and all his demons. If we keep our focus on Jesus, Satan cannot harm us. The Apostle Paul teaches us in 1 Corinthians 10:12-13 that we will fall if we try to stand on our own, but God will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able to overcome. We just need to keep our focus on Jesus. He is our salvation not just in the act of being saved, but every day of our lives.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for showing us the importance of following Jesus and Your will for our lives each day as we put on the new man in Christ Jesus. Please help us to always remember, and especially in trying times, that Jesus has overcome Satan and all his demons for us; we just need to keep our focus on our Savior Jesus each day and follow Him. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
