Jude 22-23

In connection with building each other up in Christ Jesus (Jude 20-21) is also a need to lead others to Christ Jesus. Some may need to have a compassionate, loving guidance to see and learn of God’s saving power for them, while others may be living in such a way as to need to be pulled directly from the fire of hell to see the loving guidance of God’s saving power working in their life (Jude 22-23).

This is an example that we all come to the saving power of Jesus in different ways depending on our way of life in this world.

This is a command to have compassion on everyone as we lead others to the love of God for them, and the saving power of Jesus.

We all have different backgrounds and different triggers that prompt our attention. Some people have more delicate personalities than others, and some people have lived much of, if not all, of their lives in the midst of the fires of hell. Everyone can be saved by God’s grace through faith in Christ Jesus. He paid our price for sin; it is our duty as Christians to show compassion to others in learning properly about them so we can share Jesus with them in the way that will touch their heart and lead them to the saving power of Jesus. Jude teaches us in Jude 22-23 (NKJV), “22And on some have compassion, making a distinction; 23but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.”

Dear LORD,

Sometimes we feel like everyone else should feel the same way we do about everything and experience a relationship with You just like we do. But the truth is that You have created each of us individually so that we all may have a unique relationship with You. Please help us to be caring and sincere to the things that make us unique so that we all may be better at leading others to Christ and rejoice with You as one big family – in Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
