Jude 12-13

Jude has given examples of disobedience to God from the community level and from the personal level (Jude 5-11). He now translates this to those who are reading the letter, most probable to one or a few of the churches throughout the region in which this letter would circulate, but with most probable intentions that all the churches would read this letter to be aware of the disobedience Jude is addressing. His main point is that there are false teachers among them that are leading the churches astray from God and mingling in some of the secular feasts into the proper respect for the Lord’s Supper.

This is a command to not allow the ways of this world to infiltrate the Church.

There are many denominations of the Church today in which most are separated by individual beliefs concerning baptism. The original Church as described in Acts was united in Christ Jesus and was one Church. We have allowed the ways of this world to separate/infiltrate the Church as the devil will creep in unnoticed until after he has changed/perverted the way in which God desires us to worship Him. We must check ourselves as Jude warns us against allowing such perversions to lead us astray from our salvation in Christ Jesus and being the people He has called us to be – In Christ.

Dear LORD,

Your word and Your Holy Spirit are our guides today in leading us to salvation in and through Christ Jesus our Savior. Please help us to realize and understand that we cannot adhere to the ways of this world and be the people You have called us to be. Please put in all our hearts, minds, and souls to seek Your guidance each day through study of Your word and through revelation from Your Holy Spirit working in our lives to perfect us in Christ Jesus. Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) declares,

“Your word is a lamp to my feet

And a light to my path.”

Please let it be so LORD in all our lives – In Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
