James 5:19-20

In these last two verses in the letter written by James, the brother of Jesus, he gives instructions for the body of believers/body of the Church.  He instructs the believers/body of the Church to be in care of one another, and if one should begin to fall away from their salvation, the others are responsible to show the love of Christ Jesus to the one in need and help them through the issue that they are facing and back to a right standing in Christ.  James tells us in James 5:20 (NKJV), “let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.”

This is a command to fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ and help one another through the trials and tribulations of this world.

As we conclude this Bible study on the book/letter of James, we have been instructed throughout this letter in a “call to action” of our faith in our Savior Jesus Christ.  The main point of this letter is that our faith in Christ Jesus as our Savior is required to inspire within our hearts an action to show our faith in the salvation that only Jesus can give in bringing it full circle in our obedience to God in fellowship with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.  We rely on each other to help us through the trials and tribulations that we all face in weakness, sickness, and the diseases that plague this world.  This has never been more clearly stated in all our lives than through the covid 19 pandemic that hit the world in 2020.  There is a need for revival in the world today and it begins with Christ Jesus working through the lives of us in support of one another and reaching out to those who have never opened their hearts to Jesus and proclaimed Him their Lord and Savior.  It is important that we all take with us through this study that our salvation in and through Christ Jesus is more than merely saying the words – it is a call to a new life in Christ Jesus in living an active life of showing our faith in Him as not just our Savior but the Savior of the world!

Dear LORD,

We are grateful for Your Son, our Savior Jesus, whom You sent to save the world from sin (John 3:16-17).  We ask today that You fill us with Your Holy Spirit in a call to action in showing our faith in our Savior Jesus as James tells us in James 2:16-17 (NIV), “If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?  In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”  Please help us to not be dead in our faith in our Savior Jesus, but to live full abundant lives as Your children showing our faith in Jesus in an active life of fellowship and support with our brothers and sisters in Christ, and to sharing our testimonies and the love You have shown us with others that are in need of opening their hearts to Jesus that they too may experience Your great love for them.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
