Hebrews 1:2 (NKJV)

God has spoken to His people in the past (Old Testament) through the prophets, but a time came when God sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:16), by whom God speaks forevermore.  The world and all that is in it was made through Jesus (John 1:1-3), and God has appointed Him to be the, “heir of all things” (Hebrews 1:2) (Colossians 1:15-20).

This is a promise of the supremacy of Jesus in all things and of all creation.

The Apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 2:5-11 (NKJV), “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.  And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.  Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”  And in Colossians 1:15-20 (NIV), “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For in him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.  He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.  And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.  For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace though his blood, shed on the cross.”

Today’s Bible study is a great lesson in why Jesus is so important to us all.  He is the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).  He is the giver of life, but not just life as we now live in the physical sense, but life eternal in the spiritual sense through forgiveness that is only found in Him.  He died for us that we might live through Him.  The Apostle Paul states in Romans 6:7-11 (ESV), “For one who has died has been set free from sin.  Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.  We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.  For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.  So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.”  The sins of this world leads only to death and eternal separation from our Creator God and the blessings of eternal glory in Christ, but that’s why God sent Jesus – to pay the price for our sins that through Him we may be reunited with our Creator God and live in spiritual eternity in His glory and truly live in His blessings – in Christ.

Dear LORD,

The supremacy of Jesus is the core of Christianity.  Jesus is our Lord and Savior for all who will believe in Him and make a sincere repentance of heart from the sinful nature of this  world to a new life in Christ Jesus.  Please give us understanding of how important it is for us to open our hearts to Jesus and ask of His forgiveness that we may live in Your eternal blessings – in Christ.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
