Hebrews 11:32-38

In this passage of Hebrews 11:32-38, the author gives us the idea of the vast supply of those listed in Scripture that endured trials and tribulations for standing strong and true in their faith in God.  Of those highlighted is Gideon (Judges 6-8), Barak (Judges 4), Samson (Judges 13-16), Jephthah (Judges 11-12), David (1 Samuel 16-2 Samuel; 1 Kings 1-2:12), Samuel (1 Samuel 1-25:1; 28), and the prophets whose lives and trials are listed in the books of the prophets in the Old Testament.  These people, through their faith in God accomplished great things for God and the advancement of His kingdom to be made known among the people of their day.  The author mentions many other trials and tribulations in which those who placed their faith in God endured, yet they stood strong in their faith.

This is an example of the great things in which God can work through those who stand strong in their faith in Him.

The Bible is full of examples of having faith and standing strong in one’s faith in God through the trials and tribulations of life.  This is not to say that only those who put their faith in God will experience trials and tribulations in life – we all go through the trials and tribulations of life.  The difference is the blessings one will receive for experiencing trials and tribulations because of one’s faith in God.  Jesus never promised to keep us from the harms of this world, but He did promise to never leave us nor forsake us, and that He would send His Holy Spirit to live within all who would put their faith in Him (John 14:15-18, 26) and be our guide through these times on earth and into His glory for eternity in heaven.

Dear LORD,

The trials and tribulations in which we face in this world will eventually destroy us if we do not put our faith in You to help us through them.  It is only by Your grace that we may be saved from these sinful ways.  Please help us to see the wonderful freedom that You give to all who will put their faith in You by opening our hearts to Christ Jesus – our Savior whom You sent to save the world from sin.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
