Hebrews 11:28
God gave Moses the instructions for the Passover in Exodus 12, and that it should be recognized each year. Those who were God-fearing would place the blood of the lamb on the doorposts and mantle of the entryways to their homes. The LORD would pass throughout the land at midnight and strike the firstborn of all in the land, but the LORD would “pass-over” the homes that had the blood of the lamb without striking the firstborn of that household. Those who were found to believe in the LORD, and show it by following His commands, would be spared from His wrath.
This is an example of showing faith in God by the actions of the believer in following the commands given by God.
It was the blood of the lamb that was sacrificed in which saved the believers from the wrath of God when the Passover was introduced, and it is by the blood of Christ Jesus that all who believe in God are saved from His wrath still today. The Bible is all about Jesus, the Savior of the world, and our need for Him in our lives to be set free from the wrath of God for eternity. The Old Testament leads us to Him and shows us our need for Him, and the New Testament reveals Him to us and shows us that it is only through Him that we may be forgiven and receive a new cleansed heart, which is the source and proof of a sincerely changed life. It is only by believing that Jesus, the Lamb of God, shed His blood for you to pay for your sins, that you may be saved from the eternal wrath of God and live a life that is reflective of Jesus. Have you placed the blood of Christ Jesus on the doorposts and mantle of your life? If not, today is the day to open your heart to Jesus and ask of His forgiveness. Believe, with a sincere heart that Jesus paid the price for your sins by His death, and believe that He rose from the dead to conquer sin, death, and Satan so that He may give you life eternal, and you will be saved. Romans 10:9-10 NKJV states, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Dear LORD,
Thank You for the example of the Passover given to show us and lead us to Jesus. Thank You for showing us that it is by His blood that we are saved from Your wrath that is reserved for those who refuse Your invitation to life eternal. Please help us to believe in Jesus, the Savior of the world, and to open our hearts to Him and receive the gift of Your Holy Spirit to give us a new heart, cleansed from sin, in Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
