Ephesians 1:9

The mystery of His will, being the will of the LORD God Almighty, is salvation in His One and only Son, Christ Jesus. He has made Him known to us through the message of the gospel given through the Great Commission. The Bible teaches in Matthew 28:19–20 (NKJV), Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.”

This is the promise of the knowledge of Christ through the message of the gospel.

The mystery of God’s will is not something that we discover for ourselves but is given to us through His Holy Spirit working in our lives as we grow in obedience to Him through faith. The Apostle Peter states in 2 Peter 3:17–18, “You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

When Jesus called Saul/Paul to ministry, He declared, as Paul recounts in Acts 26:15–18, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you. I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.” It is through His good pleasure (love for us) by which God reveals the mystery of His will to us through hearing the message of the gospel, which in turn grows our faith in Him.

Dear Lord,

I pray that You will help us to spread the gospel of Christ to everyone around us. I thank You for this opportunity and ask that You give us strength and words that will be understandable by those who hear. I pray Lord that You will open the hearts of the lost so that they may hear Your word and be drawn to You through Your Holy Spirit working in them. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
