Ephesians 1:5-6
In reflection of Ephesians 1:4a (NKJV), “just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world,” is further explained in Ephesians 1:5, “having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself,” and is given the reasoning why in Ephesians 1:6, “to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.”
This is an example of God’s love for us.
This is an example of what God did for us.
This is an example of what Christ did for us on the cross.
This is a promise of what God has for us in and through His Son Jesus.
In all of God’s omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience, He knew that He would send His Son Jesus to reconcile us back to Himself. As we accept what Christ did in dying on the cross for our salvation, we are “adopted” back into God’s family. God did this because He loves us and He made us to give praise to Him in the glory of His grace, by which we can only do by being accepted in the Beloved (Christ). “. . . by which He made us accepted in the Beloved” (Ephesians 1:6b) is reflected in the words of Jesus in John 6:44 as He declares, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him;”, and in John 6:65 Jesus reinforces His own words by declaring, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.” It is God who did the work of redeeming us from sin and the grasp of the devil, we are simply the beneficiaries when we realize in humble gratitude and obedience the great things He has done for us as we ask His forgiveness and declare Jesus our Savior.
Dear Lord,
I pray that You will help us to be able to speak this message clearly and in a way that those around us will understand. Our lives are to bring praise to You Lord in the glory of Your grace. Help us all to understand that we can only do this by accepting Christ Jesus and the great things He did for us on the cross and ultimately through His resurrection. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
