Ephesians 1:19-21
Paul prays (Ephesians 1:15-16) that the Ephesians (which also relates to everyone in Christ) will understand the exceeding greatness of God’s power toward us who believe. The power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at God’s right hand in heaven, which is unreachable by anyone who may desire to reach it on their own merit.
This is an example that we can have understanding for the power of God “which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come” (Ephesians 1:20-21, NKJV).
To contemplate, for what we can, the greatness of God and His mighty power is mostly beyond anything we can grasp in our earthly minds, but God gives us the ability to grasp and understand through the indwelling of His Holy Spirit through salvation in Christ Jesus. The Bible teaches us in 1 Corinthians 2:11-12, “For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.” Open your heart through faith in Jesus today and begin learning and understanding His will for your life – in Christ.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for being so powerful and mighty, seated far above all. Help us to understand Your awesome greatness through the indwelling of Your Holy Spirit in our lives as You lead us in insight, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding that leads us to share how You are working in our lives with those around us. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
