Ephesians 1:17
Ephesians 1:17-23 is a prayer. This passage is introduced in Ephesians 1:15-16 (NKJV) as the Apostle Paul states, “Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:”
Everything that we have read in the book/letter of Ephesians up to this point is the necessary happenings for God to give us His Holy Spirit in which we receive/are revealed to spiritual wisdom in a relationship in knowing God. This is the story of what God has done for us so that we may have a relationship with Him. Why? Because He loved us before we began loving Him.
This is the promise of the giving of God’s Holy Spirit in having a relationship with Him.
Let us commit ourselves to the study of God’s word so that we may gain wisdom and understanding for our relationship with Him and so that our relationship would grow in spiritual wisdom and knowledge of Him. As we grow, it is important that we share this with those around us so that we may do our part in leading others to a relationship with Him as well. Also, so that we share this with our Christian brothers and sisters in the fellowship of Christ as it is His will for us to do so.
Dear Lord,
I pray today that You will continue to open our eyes to Your word in understanding and proper interpretation so that we may share it with those around us in gaining a closer relationship with You. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
