Ephesians 1:11-12
In addition to what we find in Ephesians 1:10 (in Him), verse 11 begins by teaching us that we have something else “in Him;” an inheritance. God, who is in control of all things, has decided beforehand (predestined) according to His purpose and council of His will, that our purpose as those who are “in Christ” should be to the praise of His glory. We should put ourselves in action to, “the praise of His glory” (Ephesians 1:12, NKJV). We are here to praise God. Our purpose in life is to bring praise to God in all His glory. This is our inheritance in Christ – that we “be” to the praise of His glory.
This is a promise of our inheritance in Christ.
This is an example of what we should be in Christ.
We, as sinful human beings, have no glory. I know that this will be a surprise to some of you but our glory is not of this world, nor should we glory in this world. The Bible teaches us in Romans 3:23 that everyone has sinned and falls short of the glory of God. The glory that we experience is from the Lord and is given to us through following His will for our lives. He gives us glory for others in which we have led to Him, such as the Apostle Paul declares in 1 Thessalonians 2:19–20, “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? For you are our glory and joy.” Let us all share this wonderful news with others and do our best to be to the praise of His glory.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for the inheritance that You give us in Christ. Please help us to reflect Christ as we strive to be to the praise of Your glory. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
