Ephesians 1:1-2

Paul is an apostle of Jesus Christ because God willed (or chose) him to be (Ephesians 1:1). Paul is writing this letter not to everyone, but to the saints in Ephesus and the faithful in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:1). The faithful in Christ Jesus includes everyone who is a Christian in Ephesus and extends to us today as saved by God’s grace through His One and only Son Jesus.  However, those who are not Christians can find the way to Christ in this letter.  Paul teaches who he is, who he is writing to, and greets with a pleasant and welcoming greeting… “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 1:2, NKJV). What could be a better greeting?

This is an example of how we should greet one another in Christ.

It is such a pleasurable feeling to be greeted in a pleasant way. It is a good thing in this hustle and bustle world today simply to receive a greeting from someone with a pleasant smile. Social media has taken the better part of our attention today; a text message or a post speaks for most of us not only in our work environment but also in our family life. We have lost the personal touch of greeting one another. I challenge us all today to greet someone with a pleasant “good morning” or “have a good evening” on our way in to work or on our way home today. You don’t have to worry about picking who it is that you speak to as the Lord will prompt you through His Holy Spirit working in your life; you simply must listen and obey when He calls.

Dear Lord,

I ask today that You be with us and guide us as we greet others. Help us to show the love of Christ in us as we speak to those You put in our path. We want to be a reflection of Christ and spread His love to others to bring glory to You, LORD.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
