Colossians 2:8-10
We have been taught and we are aware of the teachings of Christ. We should be careful to keep our focus on these teachings throughout our daily activities. When someone tries to lead us in another direction, we will know when it is a way that is not of God because Christ lives in us and He, through His Holy Spirit, will let us know (John 14:15–18, 26). Christ is the “head of all principality and power,” and no one, including Satan nor his demons can lead us astray if we keep our focus on Christ.
This is a command to “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit” (Colossians 2:8a).
This is a promise that “For in Him [Christ Jesus] dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:9).
This is a promise that you are complete in Christ Jesus (Colossians 2:10a).
This is a promise that Christ is the head of all principality and power (Colossians 2:10b).
What I, and hopefully everyone else will do, is to take special care in my daily Bible study to plant God’s word in my heart. If we are Bible literate, then we stand a much better chance to overcome the false teachings that may and will come our way.
Dear Lord,
I pray today that You will plant in each of us and in all our Christian brothers and sisters around the world, the ability to distinguish between the teachings of the gospel of Christ and the teachings of false doctrines that may be introduced to us. I pray that each of us will be compelled to strive according to Your working in us and not be led astray by false teachings. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
