Colossians 2:6-7
The Apostle Paul has previously stated the things that we should strive for and where to find these treasures. He is teaching us to walk in this manner; to walk in Christ Jesus. After the things mentioned in Colossians 1 and the beginning of Colossians 2 it is no wonder that Paul teaches us to be abounding with thanksgiving.
This is an example that in receiving Christ Jesus into our lives, we should therefore walk/follow in His footsteps.
This is a promise that our faith should be established and rooted in Christ Jesus, and to be abounding with thanksgiving for the things He has done and is doing in our lives.
For the teachings of the Apostle Paul’s letter to the church at Colosse to be active in our lives, we must first receive Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Paul begins this letter by stating in Colossians 1:2 (NKJV), “To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse:” We must be actively followers of Jesus to be “7rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving” (Colossians 2:7). If we put Jesus first in our lives, the rest may not be an easy road to travel, but He will be with us and guide us every step of the way. Put Jesus first in your life today and watch how He will lead you.
Dear Lord,
Help us to walk in Christ Jesus each day and to openly keep our faith rooted in Him. As we strive for this each day, help us to remember that this should be done with thanksgiving, and we ask LORD, that as we give You thanksgiving, please fill our hearts with joy – In Christ. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
