Ephesians 3:8
The Lord works in mysterious ways, and His ways are not our ways. The Bible teaches us in Isaiah 55:8–9 (NKJV),
“‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
‘Nor are your ways My ways,’ says the LORD.
‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
‘So are My ways higher than your ways,
‘And My thoughts than your thoughts.’”
God often picks the least of/or the last person we would think to do His work. In this case, Paul is that person. In Paul’s encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus, Jesus not only gave Paul his ministry, but also humbled him in opening his mind to the dreadful things he had been doing in the persecution of the Christians up to this time. The irony of it all is that God did a 3600 turn in Paul’s life in an instant, making Paul the leader of the ministry to the Gentiles – a people that at that time were not even included or worthy of being Christians that he was on the road to persecuting. Think just for a minute of the power of that course in humility, “that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ” (Ephesians 3:8b). A transformation of this magnitude could only be accomplished by the grace of God.
This is an example that God can use any of us, even you, to accomplish His mission.
Let us all reflect on how God is working in our lives and how undeserving we are that He would choose one of us. God has a purpose for all of us in His ministry, and we should humble ourselves before Him and be open to follow what He puts in our hearts.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for giving us the example of Paul and how you can work in any of us to accomplish Your work in and through us. I pray that those of us in this ministry and all Christians around the world will be open to follow humbly where You will lead us. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
