Ephesians 2:17-18
Jesus preached peace to everyone, far and near. Some would say that in this passage “those who were afar off” represents the Gentiles, and “those who were near” represents the Jews, as we learn in Ephesians 2:18 (NKJV), “For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
If we were to conduct a survey asking the question, “What did Jesus preach?” I wonder how many would answer “peace.” That word is so comforting, and so many people are searching for it aimlessly with no idea where to find it.
This is a promise of peace in Christ.
This is a promise of access through Christ by the Holy Spirit to our Father in heaven.
God designed us all with a spot in our heart that is involved in a never-ending search for peace. The only place to find true never-ending peace is in Christ Jesus our Savior. This does not mean that in accepting Christ we will never experience trials or rough spots in our lives, but we will have the peace of Christ in us to help guide us through these times as well as to celebrate with us the good times. Let’s all seek to spread the peace of Christ to everyone in hope that each day will bring the opportunity to experience a relationship with God through Christ Jesus by His Holy Spirit.
Dear Lord,
I pray that we all would seek to spread the peace of Christ in that You will reveal Yourself to us in our search for peace. I pray that You will open our eyes to the fact that true peace is found only in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
