Ephesians 2:1-3

When we accept Christ, we put off the nature of the old sinful man and put on a new nature of a man in Christ Jesus. Colossians 3:9-10 (NKJV) states, “Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.” Before we accepted Christ, our lives were ruled by Satan as we lived and conducted our lives by the ways of the sinful nature. It is only through our salvation in and through Christ Jesus that we can break the chains that Satan had us bound in the old sinful nature of this world. We cannot stand against Satan by ourselves—only through our faith in Christ can we overcome sin and death—it is not something we can muster from or within ourselves but only through the grace of God through the sacrifice once for all of His One and only Son Jesus who died for our sins paying our price for freedom from the sinful nature. It is believing this that grows our faith unto salvation in Christ Jesus.

This is an example of what we once were, or are, without believing through faith in our Savior Christ Jesus.

This is an example of what we are, being alive, through our faith in Christ Jesus.

The Apostle Paul declares in Romans 6:4-10, “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

“For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Dear Lord,

Thank You for rescuing me from sin and death, allowing me to have a new life in Christ Jesus. I pray that You will work in me to speak of Your love to all those around me that, as Christians, we would support each other as we grow in our relationship with You, and that we would spread the gospel of Christ so that everyone may know You through salvation in Him.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
