Colossians 3:10-11
If we repent of our sins and ask Christ to forgive us, we then put on the “new man” in Christ and begin living for Him. This involves a renewing of our minds–a new way of thinking and believing. The Bible teaches in Romans 12:2 (NKJV), “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” What we then experience is for everyone in Christ; there is no “pecking order” in Christ. Greek and Jew refers to the Gentiles (everyone who is not a Jew) and the Jews or (Israelites: God’s chosen people of the Old Testament).
This is an example of the promise of salvation which God extends to everyone, “Christ is all and in all” (Colossians 3:11).
Circumcision was a requirement in the Old Testament, but in the New Testament Jesus fulfilled the Law of the Old Testament when He died on the cross and was raised three days later. A shift from striving to “do” all the requirements of the Law in an attempt to receive salvation moves to accepting Christ as our only way to salvation. Jesus declared in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” The addition of “barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.”, emphasizes that everyone can receive Christ as our personal Lord and Savior through our faith in Him, as this is God’s gift to us. Jesus said to the woman at the well in John 4:10, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” In Ephesians 2:8–10 the Apostle Paul teaches, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” And in John 3:16–17 Jesus declares, “For God so loved that world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but the world through Him might be saved.” Let us all share this good news with someone today!
Dear Lord,
My prayer today is that the gospel of Christ will be spread to everyone around the world, that everyone may have the opportunity to experience life with Christ, Greek, Jew, circumcised, uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, and free; Christ is all and in all (Colossians 3:10–11). In Jesus name I pray, amen.
