Colossians 1:21-23
We were all alienated from God because of sin, but God bought us back by paying for our sins through His Son dying on the cross a pure, sinless death undeservingly. Through Christ, we can be forgiven and now be holy and blameless in Him, but we must strive each day to continue in our relationship with Him and not be drawn away from Him by the desires of temptation.
This is an example of Christ reconciling us to Him through His holy and blameless life and death on the cross.
This is a command to continue following Jesus each day.
This is a promise that our hope of the gospel will continue to encourage us each day – In Christ.
We should all strive today and every day to continue following Jesus through believing that He paid our price for sin to redeem us back to God, being grounded and steadfast, and seeking the Lord’s help whenever temptation may strike, knowing that we cannot defeat Satan by ourselves, but that through the Lord all things are possible (1 Corinthians 10:13; Philippians 4:13). We know that Satan flees at the name of Jesus (James 4:7).
Dear Lord,
I pray that you will help us all to strive each day to be grounded and steadfast in Christ, who purchased us from sin. Please prompt us during times of temptation that Jesus is more powerful than the devil and that as we put and keep our focus on Jesus, the devil will flee at the name of Jesus. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
