Colossians 1:18-20
He (Jesus) is our Leader. Through His death and resurrection, the church began. Jesus has been with God from the beginning (John 1:2), and the things described in Colossians 1:9–20 give Him a preeminent status above all.
This is a promise of who Jesus is.
Let’s all have a special time today to talk with Jesus and ask His help for us to let Him be preeminent—to take the lead and be most important in our lives in those areas that we try to control ourselves. I want Jesus to lead me in all aspects of my life. This means listening to Him when He puts something in my heart and not trying to do more than He asks but being able to hear Him speak to me and to follow that calling. I pray that you too, will have a heart for Jesus that puts Him first in your life. Jesus declares in Matthew 6:32b–33, “For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Dear Lord,
We want You to rule over all our lives in every aspect. We know that sometimes we try to take on new things that we think will be pleasing to You but may not be what you want us to do. We want to please You in our lives that You have blessed us with and be all we can be for You. We need to slow down and be able to hear You speak to us so that we will know what You want for us. We are beginning to see that a concentrated study of Your Word will benefit us much more than a hurried study in many things. Thank You for calling us and working in our lives to mold us into what You will have us to be. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
