Luke 24:32-35
Once these two disciples realized that it was Jesus that was with them all along their travels to Emmaus, they were astonished at how Jesus had revealed Himself to them. Their hearts burned within them with excitement (Luke 24:32). The first thing they were compelled to do is to go and tell others about their experience with Jesus. They went first to the ones they knew, the other disciples that had gathered in Jerusalem, and declared to them of their excitement of how Jesus had touched their lives; they confirmed that Jesus had indeed risen from the grave!
This is a proper reaction to the lives of those who truly believe in Jesus once their eyes are opened and their hearts are cleansed with God’s Holy spirit.
When Jesus reveals Himself to us and we accept His call on our lives through His forgiveness of our sins, and we invite Him into our hearts to live through His Holy Spirit, an excitement overcomes us as we turn from the sinful nature and accept a new life in Christ Jesus. This is a life-changing event and a cause for celebration! When we are excited about something, we go and tell others about the event that has excited us; so we should tell others about the excitement that is found through salvation in Jesus!
Dear Lord,
We love You and thank You for these examples of the excitement found in accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior as He opens our eyes to Himself and we receive the forgiveness of sin that is found only through His cleansing of our hearts – that our hearts would burn within us as they did for these disciples in Luke 24. Please fill our hearts with this excitement and encouragement to inspire us to go and tell others of our excitement in Jesus. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
