Luke 24:8-12
In this passage, the women who had been following Jesus throughout His physical earthly ministry ponder over a statement that Jesus made about being delivered into the hands of sinful man to be crucified and then rise again on the third day (Luke 24:7). Then they returned to the disciples of Jesus and told of the things in which they had been witness; that the stone had been rolled away from the tomb of Jesus (Luke 24:2), and that two men dressed in shining clothing had told them that Jesus had risen from the grave (Luke 24:4-7). On hearing this news, the disciples of Jesus found it hard to believe, but one of them, Peter, jumped up and ran to the tomb to see for himself. Upon arriving at the empty tomb, Peter was astonished as he saw the linen cloth lying by themselves in the tomb, but Jesus was not there (Luke :24:12).
This is the announcement that Jesus has risen from the grave!
It is a challenge for many people to grasp the concept of someone being raised from the dead, but as we study the Bible in its entire redemptive story we begin to understand why death exists and the consequences of it. But in death is the curse of sin which God did not intend for us to have to endure, but in claiming us to be His own children He made us to be of our own free will so that we could choose Him to redeem us from the sin that Satan has bound us in.
God is love (1 John 4:7-16) and love cannot be forced upon anyone, or it is no longer love. Satan tries to force lust upon man (which is a false attempt at love, and is hatred, greed, selfishness, arrogance, pride, and jealousy), but Satan does not know love because love is of God and Satan has been cast out of God’s presence. Satan lives in darkness and he tries to make all of us fall away from God, just as he did, in his attempt to overthrow the one and only true God of heaven.
God created man in His purity out of His great love, but Satan corrupted man with sin and he still believes that he can overthrow God through destroying what God made out of His love…us! For God’s love to be complete in each of us, we must make the choice to accept it and trust in it, that His way is the best way for our lives. In this is sincere forgiveness through accepting the love (Jesus) that God sent into the world to save us all from sin. This is salvation in Jesus Christ! This is accepting God’s love to redeem us back to a right standing with Him! This is what Jesus came to accomplish in His mission on earth, and through His death (in paying the penalty for sin) and His resurrection (in overcoming/defeating sin, death, and Satan once for all). He is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father in heaven except through Him (John 14:6).
Dear Lord,
This is what salvation is all about in defeating the corruption of Satan and making a way of redemption for all of man through accepting what You did for us out of Your great love for us in sending Your one and only Son to pay the price for our sins that we may have eternal life in Him. Dear Lord, I pray that this message will penetrate our hearts, minds, and souls to bring the lost souls to new life in Christ and all of us closer to You with a greater respect for what You have done to redeem us from sin that You may call us Your own. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
Open your heart to Jesus today; ask His forgiveness for your sins; and profess Him your Savior.
