Luke 17:20-21
Jesus has already instructed the Pharisees that the kingdom of God has come upon them (Luke 11:20), but their hearts were hardened against Jesus, and they would not accept Him. In Luke 17:20 the question arises once more. Jesus replies that the kingdom of God cannot be observed by physical sight but is within you.
This is a promise of the coming of the kingdom of God.
This is a promise that the kingdom of God lives within us.
Jesus teaches His disciples in John 14:15-18 that if they love Him and keep His commands, He will send them a Helper – the Spirit of Truth to live within them forever. The Apostle Paul teaches us that the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy that lives within us through God’s Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). This is the same Holy Spirit that God sends to live within us when we accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. This is the same Holy Spirit that becomes our guide to life when we submit our will to seeking God’s will for our lives. Jesus declared in Matthew 28:20 that He would be with us always, even to the end of the age. It is through His Holy Spirit that He sends to live within us that makes this possible through our faith in Him.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit to live within us so that we may feel Your presence in our lives and to be our guide every step along the path of life as we seek Your will for our lives each day. Thank You so much for salvation in Jesus which makes this all possible. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
