Luke 12:8-9

Jesus is initiating the importance to His disciples of sharing the Gospel with others. This is in direct relation to the Great Commission that Jesus gives in Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-47; and John 20:21 and Acts 1:8.

This is a request of Jesus that we share our testimony and the Gospel (good news) about Him with others.

The Almighty God of heaven has ultimate control of everything, but this is a great example of how He allows us to have a choice in the path of our lives. We can choose to confess/profess/acknowledge Jesus to others (Luke 12:8) and in return Jesus will confess/profess/acknowledge us to the angels of God. This means that Jesus will confess/profess/acknowledge His relationship with us throughout all of heaven. We also have the option to deny believing in Jesus to others; in this case Jesus will also deny us to the angels of God (Luke 12:9). If we deny Jesus in this world, one day, when we stand before Him, we will hear the words, “Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you” (Matthew 25:12). He gives us the option, Love cannot be forced but must be freely given and freely accepted by both parties involved. God has offered His love to us in His Son Jesus and the free gift of eternal life for those who believe/confess/profess/acknowledge Him. It is a gift. Will you accept it and confess it, profess it, and acknowledge it to others?

Dear Lord,

You have given us the gift that frees us from sin and gives us forgiveness and eternal life in heaven with You. We acknowledge Your love for us in the gift of Your one and only Son who died for us and paid the price to sin for us in His death. We acknowledge that Jesus rose from the grave in life and victory over sin, death, and Satan, and that He offers what He has done for us, to us, so that we may receive eternal life in Him. Please give us the courage to share our testimony and the Gospel with others so that we would do our part to help each other grow in our relationship with You, and that we could lead others to You so that they too can begin a new life in Christ Jesus. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
