Luke 11:14-15
As Jesus heals a person from a demon, the crowd was astonished, but their astonishment was with the “show” and excitement of seeing someone perform a miracle instead of realizing the power of God that was at work through His Son Jesus in setting someone free from the chains of the devil. Some of the onlookers went as far as to accuse Jesus of being from Satan in that if the demons listened to Him, He must too be of Satan. But the truth is that these people’s hearts were controlled by Satan, and as Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44-45) he was keeping these people blind (John 8:42-43) to being able to “hear” Jesus.
This is an example of the power of Jesus over Satan.
This is an example of the power of Satan over man.
Many people today are blind to Jesus because of the chains Satan has them bound in. The only way to break the chains of Satan is to ask Jesus for help. In Luke 11:9-13 Jesus teaches His disciples to ask and they will receive. We too need to ask Jesus to break the chains of Satan on our lives, that He would set us free from the grasp of Satan and give us a new life in Him. There is no other way to God except through Jesus (John 14:6).
Dear Lord,
Please help us to see that we cannot defeat Satan by ourselves. The grasp and chains that Satan has on our lives can only be overcome by putting our faith in Jesus. He has already defeated Satan for us as He now waits for us to ask Him to forgive us of our sins. If we ask, He will drive Satan out of our hearts, setting us free from the chains of Satan. Jesus said that He is the way, the truth, and the life, and that no one comes to You LORD except through Him (John 14:6). Please open our eyes to the saving power of Jesus that we would humble ourselves to Jesus and ask His help in defeating Satan in our lives. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
