Luke 10:38-42

In this passage Jesus was at Martha’s house where she was busy serving her guests. Her sister, Mary, sat at the feet of Jesus and listened to His teaching. Luke 10:40 teaches us that Martha was “distracted” with the work that she was doing, and she asked Jesus to command her sister to help her. In Luke 10:41-42 Jesus gives His answer to Martha and instructs her that in all her worries she needs to take note of the One thing that is most important… Him.

This is an example of being distracted by the worries of life.

This is an example to put and keep our focus on Jesus; He will help us through the worries of this life.

As our lives get busier and busier due to the advancement of the technological age, our time seems to dissipate. It seems as if there is not enough hours in the day to accomplish all the things that life requires of us. But the one thing that will help us through it all is being dedicated to a private time with the LORD each day. Seek His guidance for the coming day. Ask His help with the things that you know are going to be a concern for you each day. Ask His guidance to help you through it. And thank Him for the blessings that He gives you each day (they are there whether you see them or not). Take a moment to read and absorb His Word. Look for a lesson that you can take with you throughout the day to help yourself and to help others. Seek to conduct yourself throughout the day in a way that will be pleasing to Him. There will be challenges; this is one way in which we grow in our relationship with Him. We need to be active in asking God to help us with our concerns of life; He will hear our prayers, and He will respond  as we submit our lives to Him in sincerity of what His Son Jesus has done for us on the cross (Luke 11:9-10).

Dear Lord,

We are so busy with the cares and worries of life. Please help us to put and keep our focus on You in seeking Your help through the challenges and trials that we face each day. Please help us to see that You will guide us through each day if we will put our sincere faith in Jesus and open our hearts to receive Your Holy Spirit as our guide through and to life (John 16:5-15). In Jesus name I pray, amen.
