Luke 9:10-11
Jesus sent His disciples out to, “preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick” (Luke 9:2, NKJV). Now they have returned and are telling Jesus about all that they have done through the power that Jesus had given them in Luke 9:1.
Jesus then withdrew with His disciples, presumably to teach them further, but when the people found Him, they came to Him for healing and to hear Him teach. Jesus did not send the crowd away, not allowing them in His private time with His disciples, but He welcomed them, taught them, and healed them (Luke 9:11).
This is an example of the compassion that Jesus has for everyone.
This is an example that Jesus is always willing to receive us; to heal us and forgive our sins if we will come to Him.
When Jesus works through our lives as His servants to touch the lives of those around us, we are excited about it, and we desire to give thanks to Jesus for what He is doing in our lives. When we seek and follow God’s will for our lives, these opportunities will present themselves, and His blessings will follow us throughout our lives. It is our action as Christians to take advantage of these opportunities as God leads us through His Holy Spirit.
Jesus is never too busy to spend time with us. He sent His Holy Spirit to dwell within us and to be our guide (John 14:15-18, 26-27), but just as in any relationship, the actions of each person in the relationship is a requirement for the relationship to grow and prosper.
Dear Lord,
You created us all for a purpose that is specific to each of us. Please speak to our hearts and lead us through Your Holy Spirit and help us to be open to receive Your guidance each day to fulfill Your will for our lives. Please help us to put the sinful nature of this world behind us and seek our new life in Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
