Luke 6:21b

Weeping shows the inner desire for something more than what is being experienced in the physical and spiritual present. Weeping shows the need for help and comfort. Weeping builds the hunger that is spoken of in Luke 6:21a. Jesus states in John 16:33 (NKJV), “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

This is a promise that Jesus will wipe away our tears if we will put our faith in Him and believe and follow Him as our Savior.

When we put our trust in Jesus, the weeping that we experience in the physical world of sin will be replaced by a blessing of spirit-filled joy in Christ. This is not laughter at someone or something, but an overwhelming feeling of joy that will overflow us, sometimes to the point of laughter. This blessing is true joy given by God through the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. This joy can be found or experienced from no other source than through our salvation in Jesus.

Dear Lord,

We live in a sinful world that includes much weeping and sorrow. Jesus came to defeat sin and the sorrow that goes with it. Please speak to our hearts and show us the comfort that is found only in Jesus, that we would open our hearts to Jesus and experience the true joy that is found only through salvation in Him. Instill within us the desire to seek this joy in Christ each day of our lives as we seek to grow in our relationship with You and share Your love with those around us. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
