Philippians 3:17-4:1

God has given us the Bible as an example for us to follow in its teachings. The Apostle Paul is one such example. Paul states in Philippians 3:17 (NKJV), “17Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.” He then explains as his heart cries out for those who walk in the ways of this world as he once did before his conversion (Philippians 3:18-19, Acts 8:3). Paul declares in Philippians 3:20-21, “20For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.” Paul ends this section with a command to “stand fast in the Lord, beloved” (Philippians 4:1b).

This is a command to stand fast in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

This is an example to follow as the Apostle Paul teaches us to do.

As Christians, and even for those who are not, the Bible is our textbook to life – to life abundant and eternal (John 10:7-10; 27-30). In the early days of the Church, the followers of Jesus believed that He would return very soon to raise up with Him all who believe in Him unto everlasting life (John 6:39-40).

Jesus will return at a moment’s notice, and the mystery will be revealed as Paul states in Colossians 1:27-29, “To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.” The day is coming, and will soon be here when Jesus will return. The goal for us all is to be ready when that day comes. Trust Jesus today and put your faith in Him as your Savior, He will not refuse a sincere heart to follow His will for your life.

Dear LORD,

Please help us all to follow the example of Your Apostle Paul in living a faithful life in Christ Jesus; that we would put You first in our lives and seek and follow Your will for our lives – In Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
