Philippians 1:12-14
While the Apostle Paul was in prison for sharing the message of the gospel, others were encouraged to take action in his place as they became strengthened and felt the need to continue what he had started. In this case, Paul’s imprisonment was utilized by God for good. Paul states in Philippians 1:12-14 (NKJV), “12But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, 13so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; 14and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.”
This is an example of the calling of all Christians to share the message of the gospel.
We do not have to be a priest or pastor to share the blessing God gives us with others – it is a requirement as a Christian to stand up for Christ Jesus and with His love guiding our hearts, minds, and souls to lead others to Him. Jesus left with His disciples to share the message of the gospel with the whole world (Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15-16, Luke 24:46-47, John 20:21, and as He states in Acts 1:8, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Dear LORD,
Please help us all to realize and understand that we are all called by You to bring glory to You through our lives in sharing Your love for us with others that they too may come to know You personally and experience true life in Christ. Jesus declared in John 5:24, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” May it be so for us all. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
