Titus 3:9-11
In Titus 3:9-11 (NKJV) the Apostle Paul instructs Titus to avoid foolish arguing with one another over things which are “unprofitable and useless.” He instructs, “9But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. 10Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, 11knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned” (Titus 3:9-11).
This is a command to remove ourselves from unnecessary disputes.
Is it not fitting for this Bible lesson today as we find ourselves in the midst of arguing over even the littlest of things in which the outcome has little to no bearing on anything other than our egos. Jesus stated in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” There will be arguing and disputing in this world, but we can strive to be the peacemakers in reflection of our Savior Jesus as He states in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Dear LORD,
You have given us Your peace in our hearts and declared in Matthew 5:9, “Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.” Please let it be so in all our lives. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
