2 Timothy 1:7
The Apostle Paul declares in 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV), “7For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” He declares this in reference to his comment in 2 Timothy 1:6, “6Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.”
Jesus declared in John 4:23-24, “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
This is an example of the person God has designed each one of us to be – in Christ.
As God loves us so much that He sent His One and only Son to save us from sin (John 3:16-17), we must realize and understand that love, in its purest form, is the essence of God. The Bible teaches us in 1 John 4:8, “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” Our spirit is of God and of His power. This love and power is what casts out fear in our lives. The Apostle John declares in 1 John 4:18, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”
We are made perfect through the love of God when we open our hearts, minds, and souls to the pure gift that He gave us in His Son Jesus and the forgiveness and new life found only in putting our faith in Him as our Savior. It is then that His love fills our hearts, minds, and souls and casts out fear. Are you fearful? Give your fears to God and let Him take care of them for you. Trust Him, believe in Him, and make Him your refuge today. King David cried out to God in Psalm 61:3, “For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy.” I encourage you to make God your strong tower today by putting your faith in Jesus and declaring Him your Savior.
Dear LORD,
Please fill our hearts with Your pure love and power and give us a sound mind to overcome the fears we face each day. Please help us to live the words of King David as he states in Psalm 31:3, “For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name’s sake, Lead me and guide me.” Please let it be so LORD. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
