1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
In 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 the Apostle Paul speaks of those who have died, or as he puts it, “fallen asleep” (1 Thessalonians 4:13, NKJV). In 1 Thessalonians 4:14 Paul states, “14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.”
This is a promise of a resurrected new spiritual body for all who believe in Jesus.
Jesus declares in John 5:28-29, “. . . for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth – those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of condemnation.” Let us put our hope in the Lord; that our loved ones who have fallen asleep – in Christ – will return with Him in His glory.
Dear LORD,
There is a great mystery of what happens to us when we die. You teach us in Your Word that in Christ, we will be given a new spiritual body to dwell with You in heaven for eternity. What a great thought. . . You came to live with us in this world for a short time; in Christ, we will come to live with You for eternity. Please let it be so LORD. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
