1 Thessalonians 3:12-13

The Apostle Paul declares in 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 (NKJV), “12And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, 13so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.” I believe this is based on the commandment that Jesus gave in John 13:34 as He instructs, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” Paul then goes on to tell us why we should do this: “13so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.”

This is a command to love one another as Jesus has first loved us.

This is following in the footsteps of Jesus as is and should be our desire as Christians. The word Christian itself is made of two words: Christ – ones; we are followers of Christ Jesus and in so, we should learn from and follow His teachings; we should apply these things in our lives, not just learn about them. Knowing is half the battle; practical application is the other half.

Dear LORD,

My prayer today is that we all would not simply study Your Word so that we may know of Your will for our lives, but that we would take action in following the teachings that Jesus gives us in loving one another as He first loved us. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
