1 Thessalonians 3:9-10
We have learned in Acts 17 that Paul’s stay in Thessalonica was cut short by those who opposed him preaching there. Since then, Paul has been concerned for the new Christians at Thessalonica and through the message from Timothy of their faithfulness (1 Thessalonians 3:6-8), been comforted that they are doing well. Paul, however, is concerned that through his excitement for their dedicated faith to Christ Jesus, they may still yet need additional guidance in their walk with Jesus. Paul continues day and night to pray for the new Christians at Thessalonica that God’s Holy Spirit will continue to work in their lives to grow them and perfect whatever is lacking in their faith (1 Thessalonians 3:9-10).
This is an example of the concern and continual prayer we should give one another for God’s guidance through His Holy Spirit for each other – In Christ.
We too, need this kind of guidance and support from one another in Christ; there is not one of us who is exempt from needing support in the individual struggles we face each day. When the Church was in its beginning, being led by the Apostles as were taught by Jesus, they came together and took care of each other. The Bible teaches us in Acts 2:46-47 (NKJV), “So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”
Dear LORD,
With one accord and simplicity of heart. . . what a nostalgic peaceful state of mind to have. Please let us experience this today in all our lives. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
