1 Thessalonians 1:4
In 1 Thessalonians 1:4 the Apostle Paul confirms with the church at Thessalonica their “election by God” (NKJV). Jesus reveals in John 6:44 that no one can come to Him unless the Father draws him to do so, and He reiterates this in John 6:65 declaring, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.”
This is a promise of being called to Jesus by God.
We are all called, I believe, at some point in our lives by God to open our heart to Jesus and accept Him in obedience to God as our Savior – the One who paid the price for our sins so that we may be forgiven from them and become a child of God (John 1:10-13). It is not anything we did to deserve God to do this for us but simply by His grace and mercy because He loves us and desires to redeem us back to Him in a right relationship as He first intended at creation before sin entered the world. It is only our accepting or denying His calling on our lives that we play a role. Have you accepted God’s calling on your life? He may be calling you for the first time right now to open your heart to Jesus and accept Him as your Lord and Savior to set you free from sin and make you a child of God. The Apostle Paul teaches us how to do this in Romans 10:9-10 as he declares, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Answer the call of God on your life today by professing Jesus your Savior!
Dear LORD,
To be Your elect – to hear You speaking to our hearts is the most important thing we can become aware of in this world. How we answer Your call on our lives is the most important decision we will make in this world. I pray that we all choose Jesus. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
