Revelation 22:17
Revelation 22:17 has four parts which are all invitations. The first part of Revelation 22:17 is the Spirit of God and the bride (the New Jerusalem, Revelation 21:2, 9-10) inviting humanity to “Come!” (NKJV). This invitation is also an exclamation which inserts a heightened importance and urgency to follow the invitation/command.
The second part of Revelation 22:17 is an invitation for all who hear these words to say in acceptance and agreement with the Word of God to “Come!”, which is also defined by the importance of being an exclamation as to hurry everyone along as quickly as possible.
The third part of Revelation 22:17 is an invitation to everyone who has a need/thirst for healing, comforting, and support in their life to come.
And the fourth part of Revelation 22:17 is an invitation to all who desire to come, that the water of life is free – take all you desire as there is plenty for everyone.
This is an invitation for everyone, everywhere to come to Jesus and take up residence in the New Jerusalem as it is free of charge for all who receive the place God has prepared for us.
Jesus invites us in Matthew 11:28-29 (NKJV) to, “come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” In Matthew 24-25 Jesus tells many parables that all lead to the same hurried action to come to Him for salvation. Jesus declares in Matthew 25:43, “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”
Dear LORD,
Many may say that there is plenty of time to prepare for Your coming, but what many people do not realize is that the day they die is that day in which You will come for them. The need to come to You is a reality in all our lives; please speak to our hearts and help us prepare for that great day in which we who will come to You will all be free to drink of the tree of life. You have declared in Revelation 22:17, “17And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirst come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.” Please let it be so LORD in all our lives. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
