Revelation 21:23-24
Revelation 21:23(NKJV) is such a magnificent declaration made by the Apostle John as he states of the New Jerusalem, “23The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.” The glory of God is the light of the New Jerusalem; the Lamb/Jesus is that light; Jesus is the glory of God.
Revelation 21:24 explains our place in the New Jerusalem for those who are saved by the blood of the Lamb/Jesus as to, “walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.” John 1:4 declares, “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” Jesus declares in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
This is a promise that the Lamb/Jesus is the light of not only the world, but also of the New Jerusalem.
In the New Jerusalem we will be able to see through the light provided by the glory of Jesus. His glory will shine throughout for all to see and be filled with it. Jesus also shines His light into this world for all to see – His glory as of the only begotten Son of God who came to save the world from sin (John 1:14; 3:16-17). Jesus is our Savior, His light shines through His glory to all who will receive Him and put their faith in Him (John 1:12-13). Put your faith in Jesus today and you too will receive His blessings of eternal life and to walk in His glory forever.
Dear LORD,
Jesus is the essence of Your glory that shines throughout this world for all to see so that we would put our faith in You and live in Your glory in the New Jerusalem. Your glory fills us with joy in this world to help us through it; one day, in the New Jerusalem, we will live in Your glory and truly become one – in Christ. Thank You for saving us from this world so that we may live in Your glory forever. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
