Revelation 20:7-10
In Revelation 20:7-10, after the thousand years, Satan will be released from his bondage and will go out to deceive the world. He will gather an army from all around the world, and then will surround Jerusalem. God will then release fire from heaven to devour the army which is named Gog and Magog (Revelation 20:9). Revelation 20:10 declares, “10The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. `And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
This is a promise and example that the devil will be released from his bonds to further tempt the world but will be destroyed by fire from heaven and cast into the lake of fire and brimstone to be tormented forever.
The devil strives so hard to make us fall from God just as he did because he knows that his time is short. The Apostle Peter teaches in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” But in this same passage of 1 Peter 5:6-11we are taught how to resist him, that we should humble ourselves to God and resist the devil while staying steadfast in the faith and knowing that the sufferings we experience are no different than that which our brothers and sisters in Christ face each day. The Apostle Paul teaches in 1 Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
Dear LORD,
Your holy Word teaches us that Satan will attack us at every opportunity, but Your holy Word also teaches us that there is a way out of the wiles of the devil through putting our faith in our Savior – Jesus, who came to take away the sins of the world. Please let it be so LORD. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
