Revelation 12:3-4
In Revelation 12:3-4 (NKJV) a second sign appears in heaven of “a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. 4His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born.” This dragon is Lucifer, the devil and Satan. His desire is to prove to God that he can be greater and in so defeat God as being the Almighty (Isaiah 14:12-15). In his fall from heaven (Luke 10:18) he has already caused the fall of a third of the angels of heaven who chose to believe in him instead of God Almighty (2 Peter 2:4; Jude 6). His desire is to kill the Savior that will ultimately defeat him and cast him into the lake of fire and brimstone (Revelation 20:10).
This is a sign of the ways of the devil that are only to deceive and pull everyone he can away from our Creator and Almighty God.
As the devil is the deceiver and destroyer whose mission is to pull us away from God by force and hostile takeover, it is God’s own desire to show us His great love for us as our Creator and Savior. God does not force us to seek His will for our lives but shows us His great love for us in the world of the devil that we would be compelled to follow God even in the midst of the deceit and destruction of this world created to be the place in which Lucifer was cast when God expelled him from heaven (Luke 10:18). God is a fair and just God; He is giving Lucifer a fair chance to prove himself in his own evil world apart from the purity of heaven, in which God will still prevail and prove to be God Almighty – the Savior of the world (John 1:29, 3:16-17).
Dear LORD,
The key to our understanding and realization of this sinful world is to realize and understand the wiles of the devil and of how and why he is trying to make us all fall to temptation in his attempt to pull us away from You, our Creator and Savior in his claim that he can be greater than You, which he will be ultimately proven false and lacking. Please give us understanding of our need for Jesus to save us from the wiles of the devil that we may be reunited with You in heaven for eternity – in Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
